Quote of the Month
I can’t understand why the anchor didn’t hold.
I was only in 30 feet of water and I had 40 feet of rope out.
Two things wrong here:
It’s not “rope”; it’s line, chain, or scope. In 30 feet of water you need 210 feet of line to maintain the optimum 7 to 1 ratio for anchor holding power.

Only YOU can prevent dock fires...

This is one of the few photos on this site not directly attributable to Capt. Rick.
Borrowed from the internet, it depicts the reason Capt. Rick so strongly encourages boater education -- not the fill-in-the-blanks testing part, REAL education. During the season, he's out there on the water just about every day, and twice on Sunday.
Scenes like this one are just not good, people.

The same holds true here. A command decision to clear one side or the other, and this too could have been avoided.

Media Coverage
An April 18, 2007 environmental tragedy on the Manasquan River at the Route 70/Brielle Bridge brought media coverage to the area. Capt. Rick Frye was on hand for an interview on behalf of the clean-up efforts of Budget Boat Towing and Salvage Company of Manasquan.
