Update regarding Test-Out Option
You all remember that the Test-Out option for the NJ Safe Boating Certificate expired as of May 31, 2008, right? Well, providers statewide have recently received word that the Test-Out option has been reinstated until May 31, 2009. The same rules apply (see FAQ) as did before. The cost for the Test-Out is $25.00 for all providers. If you qualify, contact Capt. Rick today to schedule.

A Message from Capt. Rick (1/29/2009)
Once again, I'd like to offer my sincere THANKS to Commodore Janet Buggle of the Keyport Yacht Club - the first woman to hold that prestigious distinction, by the way. On her invitation, I had the pleasure of speaking to the membership this past Sunday, January 25th regarding the differences between Towing and Salvage.
The presentation was well received, and my wife Gail and I had a wonderful time. Thank you, Commodore, and congratulations on the well-deserved Title.
Please keep in mind that we are continuing to schedule our NJ Safe Boating classes. We had one such class on Saturday, January 24th; another is scheduled for this coming Saturday, January 31st. It is business as usual, even in the frigid weather. Call for more information or to schedule your class.
Speaking of business, I will be attending the Atlantic City International Power Boat Show at the AC Convention Center on Wednesday, February 4th. I'll be the guy working the Marine Trades Association booth.
Come on out! Adults are $15; older children (13-15) are $8; children under 12 with an adult are free - and those, of course, are the ticket prices (they're not giving away children under 12). They offer a 2-day ticket rate as well. I hope to see you there!

UPDATE: We've set up our new BLOG - that's weblog for all you old schoolers. Fast & Half-Fast is it's name, and it's HERE. Subscribe to the feed you'll find there (look for the "Entries/Comments RSS" link on the right-hand side), and you can be updated when there're new postings. You'll find our calendar, and you're even invited to comment on the postings. In addition to all that, you'll find the NOAA weather alerts and advisories for New Jersey (as below). We're always on the hunt for new feeds, so if you know of a relavent feed we should consider adding there, please e-mail the webmaster. Sort of our free-for-all, I hope to be posting there regularly, and Capt. Rick will, as well.

- Persons born after December 31, 1968 and who are at least 16 years of age ARE ALREADY REQUIRED TO HOLD A BOATING SAFETY CERTIFICATE
(limitations apply to persons aged 13-16 years; see our FAQ page);
- Persons born between 1959 and December 31, 1968 must hold a Boating Safety Certificate by June 1, 2007;
- Persons born between 1949 and December 31, 1958 must hold a Boating Safety Certificate by June 1, 2008; and
- ALL other persons wishing to operate a power vessel - including personal watercraft - must hold a Boating Safety Certificate by June 1, 2009.
